This was a table Brian made about 8 or 10 years ago. It's been on the front porch where it served us well. I always seem to like handmade wood things years after their construction. It's finally been out in the elements long enough to make it worthy of coming inside:)
Here it is when I started.
I've found I really like Liquid Sandpaper as a quick way to get a piece ready to paint. All you do is rub the stuff on with a rag, wait about 10 minutes and you'll see that the surface is very tacky. Makes great tooth for holding on your new paint layers. After I painted the whole thing....I did not paint the two ends I planned to cover with wallpaper. I put the liquid sandpaper on and waited about 10 minutes then I pasted on the paper.
After I finished, I decided I needed some paper on more than just the ends. I had already put new paint on those parts so I rubbed liquid sandpaper on the new paint, waited for it to become tacky then pasted on the paper. Here's the finished product. I really love the funky-ness of it. I also won't be bothered when the kids are too hard on it. I know they will be. I try to own nothing at this point that I would stress about if it got messed up. Re-purposing really is the best way to go when you have kids.
In case you can't tell, the wallpaper is a nice retro olive/avocado from the 60s. I'm not sure if I'll do some distressing or glazing to the paint or not. It needs to cure for a couple of weeks anyway so I'll wait to decide. I'm thinking I like it just the way it is:)
I will be getting my new wallpaper pack up in my etsy shop soon. I do have a few house projects that I am making myself finish BEFORE I do anything else. I'll show you more soon:)
Happy creating!!

OMG!!! I was just working on a project for my SIL's b-day and used some of your mini wallpapers. The colors of the project are avocado, teal, yellow, and cream...and I was lovin that unique color combo...and there you have the same thing with the avocado and teal...cool! You always know just the right way to beautify your weathered pieces.

Hi Donna! I love your bench. I finally broke down and used a piece of the flocked wallpaper I'd bought from you months ago to make a sign to go in my new office at my new job. I put it on my blog. Made me brave enuf to want to do some more. BTW--I love your SPOOKY sign! I love the style of the lettering you use. Do you cut them yourself? Have a great weekend.
